I think the exspressionistic fauvistic, using two contrasting colors, style fits Rogozhin very well. I like how the color represtent his split personality and his actions driven by madly passion for Nastasiya. Also I support the theory that Rogozhin is the double of Myshkin, his dark, passionate side They are the polar opposites, but in their contrast they have so much in common. The book beginnes and ends with those two together, they love the same women, each with different type of love. They even become brothers and Myshkin stays with Rogozhin till the end . Other then that, I always found Rogozhin very interesting character and I am rather fond of him despite everything he had done. So, I must say that this portrait struck me with its depth and passion and chaos and it is just perfect for Rogozhin.
PS. My english is not really good, but I hope you will understand my thoughts.

The half-masks of Nastasya that he reaches for do a great job of suggesting that he wants her as one wants an object--not only is his love only skin-deep (i.e. lust), he can't even see the complete surface image. What he wants is an ideal of her, so it's no wonder he kills her. In some ways it also appears as if he wants to put her on as a mask to cover for his own lack of spiritual beauty. The coloring on his face suggests, combined with the snakeskin pattern in the background, that he is akin to a serpent, as in, the Devil, and as Myshkin's opposite, it definitely seems that's what Dostoyevsky intended. You sure managed to pack a lot of symbolism into this!

At these days , I thinking about people and their masks...
And then i saw that paint...

- sorry for my english but i cant pass English lessons well , and i dont like the language thingy -

I see myself actually my mental state in that paint...
A girl behind a man with her mask and showing her real face to him...
And a man before her who thinking about which way is his...
And thinking he has a mask too... And the Punch , ithink it meands the Angriness of the man to Girl... And different colors means... hata and Love may be... A dilemma for him...
And background shows The man trying to walk two different road , at same time... And its wear down Him...

Sorry for Your wish takes Too much time...
I hope you can understand my english

And thanks for your paint...
I think u dont want to say these things with your paint
but poets and paints... actually all Art thing... Means different things person to person...

Well, I don't have any idea of who this man is or about what the book is about, so I can't really say anything about this.
I can, however, say something on the imagery. I absolutely love the way you have done the red and green background, you have definitely achieved a successful illusion right there.

Again, I don't know anything about the book, but I'm guessing that the half-faces are masks that the guy uses to hide one side of him. To me his expression means that he's not exactly the good guy in the book, although the green side seems to be nicer than the red.

Good work ! Very nice dualism or almost controversy in the colors and figures.

Oh I love it ! Don't remember if I've read it, this must mean I didn't and it makes me want to. The background is fantastic..
